Philly cheesesteak is a great dish, and you can make this in a variety of ways. One cool way is stuffed shells, where you add the meat to large pasta shells, dipped with some cheese, and you can even put this inside one skillet.
It’s really tasty, and is the perfect dinner dish if you want something simple, and unique as well.
THE INGREDIENTS LIST:
Lean ground beef; I used 1 Pound.
2 Tbsp.Of softened butter.
A diced yellow onion; I used a small one.
A diced green bell pepper; use a small one.
2 Tbsp.Of ketchup.
1 Tbsp.Of Worcestershire sauce.
1/2 Tsp.Of Kosher salt.
1/2 Tsp.Of ground black pepper.
Cheddar cheese; I used 8-ounces, and cut it into small cubes.
Cooked Jumbo pasta shells, I used 24.
1 Tbsp.Of cornstarch.
210 milliliters.Of whole milk.
210 milliliters.Of beef broth.
Steps
First step is you need to preheat the oven to 350F.
Then, put the beef in a large pan that’s cast iron, and then brown this until a crust creates before you break up the pieces
Add in the ground beef, and then let it get a deep crust forming on around half of the steak of this
Once this is off the heat, keep the fat in there, but add the onions, the butter, and then the bell peppers.
Next, let this brown for around 2 or so minutes, stirring this constantly, and then let it sit to brown in the same pan for another two minutes, and then let it set
Put the steak back in there, stirring all of this in. add in the Worcestershire sauce, the ketchup, the pepper, and the salt to this to taste
Take this off the heat, and then put this directly inside each of the pasta shells, and then, you can top this with cheese of choice, whether it’s cheese cubes or shredded cheese
Heat up the milk, the beef broth, and your cornstarch within the same kind of pan over medium heat levels until everything in that mixture thickens up.
Whisk in more of the cheese and then do this for another 3 minutes, five at most, until everything thickens up
Put the rest of the sauce into the shells, and then put them aside. Then, take the dish with the shells, meat mixture, and the cheese inside there, cooking it for around 10 or so minutes
Add the rest of the sauce to the top portion of this in order to serve it!
Tips
What’s the best cheese to use?
The best cheese to use for this is shredded cheddar cheese or cubed cheddar cheese. It’s what’s normally used in Philly cheesesteak types of cooking, but it’s also your discretion, since some people prefer certain kinds of cheese for this sort of thing.
Do I have to top it with cheese?
You don’t have to, but a lot of people like the extra cheesy goodness that the cheese sauce has over this, so you might want to use it.
If you don’t feel like adding the cheese sauce as a topping for the final step, your option is to just use that all in one dish, but that might not be what you’re going for with this, so use your discretion on choosing the way you want to make your dish, and how you want to use it.
