Innovative and really simple omelette recipe, omelettes in a bag are perfect for camping trips or feeding individualized omelettes to a large crowd.

The culinary world is always evolving – new things are invented with each passing moment. If it’s not a new recipe to satisfy centuries-old cravings that we could never figure out, it’s technology to make the process of cooking, packaging or eating much simpler.

This latest invention, now a rave, really isn’t anything new, but it sure provided a fix for culinary problems that have plagued humankind for eons – well as they say “modern problems require modern solutions.” So here’s one – omelettes in a bag!

Omelettes in a bag is, as its name says – it’s omelettes prepared in and possibly eaten from a Ziploc bag. If you ask me, there’s nothing way more practical than this. How have we never thought of this as a race that’s conquered space travel.. And.. can we get every meal in a bag?!

Omelettes are great, and you can very them in a million different ways. Humans, on the other hand, are not so great, and we constantly have to deal with picky eaters (points fingers at my kids). You could make a super delicious omelette with all your delicious bits and pieces, only for some picky blinder (lol) to tell you they don’t like it, cos there’s ham or onions or chives. Well, omelettes in a bag solve that. With this innovation, you could easily prepare delicious individualized omelettes to everyone’s specifications, without having to spend hours in the kitchen.

Talking of the kitchen, do you know why this recipe says “no mess”? – because you literally leave no mess after cooking. You don’t prepare this in a pan but in disposable bags. Little cleaning up to do afterward. Now tell me that’s not lovely?

Omelettes in a bag are eggcellent for camping or when you have to feed a large group with plenty of picky eaters. Just make omelletes how each person will like it in their own separate bag!

How to Prepare

Step 1:

Crack two eggs into a large resealable freezer bag, press out as much air as possible, then seal the bag shut. Squeeze the eggs, or shake the bag in order to beat the eggs.

Step 2:

Reopen the bag and add all the ingredients you need in your omelette (cheddar, ham, pepper, tomato etc), then carefully reseal the bag.

Step 3:

Place the bags in boiling water and allow to cook for 20 minutes or until the misture is set, then use tongs to remove the bag from the pot.

Step 4:

Open the bag and let the omelette roll out onto a plate (it should roll out easily. Garnish with whatever you like and serve.

Tips

You can place up to eight bags in the boiling water at once. This recipe is just for an omellete to serve me. Prepare each person’s omelette how they like and remember to label their name on their bag

BE careful of the bags you use. Some may have harmful toxins. Ensure to use BPA-free freeer bags for this recipe.
