The first look at this dish, and you may wonder if it’s any good. It may not be the most appetizing, but let’s face it, potatoes are great, and you can have these potatoes as a great side item, or even a main dish.

The amazing thing about this, is that there is enough meat and protein that it’ll keep you full, but it’s also a really tasty potato dish, so it’s the best of both worlds when it comes to this.

Here, we’ll show you how to make this, and also, some great tips to ensure that you have the best potatoes for the job, and something that, when you bring it to your next gathering or made for the next family dinner, you’ll have everyone talking because it’s so good.

INGREDIENTS

6-7 cups potatoes, peeled and diced

2 cups cheddar cheese, grated

1 (1 lb) package turkey bacon, cooked and crumbled

1 teaspoon garlic salt

1 cup mayonnaise

1/2 cup green onions, thinly sliced

Steps

Take your oven, and from there, preheat this to 325.

Grab a baking dish, and from there, take the potatoes, the garlic salt, the green onions, the bacon, and the cheddar cheese and mix all of this together.

Put the mayonnaise into there, and from there, site it all until everything is there and neatly coated.

Grab the dish, and then put this into the oven. Bake this until the potatoes get tenderized, and the top has a neat, golden brown color. This usually takes about an hour to 90 minutes for best results.

Pull them out and serve either as a main dish, or as a side. Enjoy!

Tips

Can I substitute the meat in this?

You can. If you want to try regular bacon you can, or a variant of that. Just know it may change the flavoring of this, and minimally, it needs to be something which can be crumbled.

How will I know the potatoes are done?

You will know they’re done when they’re nice and tender, and the cheese properly is melted on top. You also may notice that it’s a nice, browned color, which also means that it’s finished. You don’t want it to get too browned, or else you might have to worry about it being burned.

Can I add more mayonnaise?

Yes, just make sure that you’re mindful of how much you’re putting in. you can add less if you’re not interested in a very mayonnaise-tasting potato dish. And if you hate mayonnaise, you can of course add less.

If you do love mayo though, and you want to add it to this, you’re more than able to, since it’s not that hard to do, and it can be a tasty additive in some cases.

Can I use an alternative to mayonnaise?

You sure can! Milk is an alternative to this, in order to make it creamier. Some people like to use mayonnaise for this, since it tastes better, and it’s easier for you to get the texture out of this than it would be otherwise.
