Instructions:
Blanch the Green Beans:
Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil.
Add the green beans and cook for 3-4 minutes until tender-crisp.
Transfer to a bowl of ice water to stop the cooking process. Drain and set aside.
Prepare the Gravy:
In a skillet, heat the olive oil or butter over medium heat.
Add the minced garlic and cook for about 1 minute until fragrant.
Stir in the flour and cook for 1-2 minutes to form a roux, making sure it’s lightly golden but not burnt.
Gradually whisk in the beef broth, ensuring there are no lumps.
Bring to a simmer and cook until the gravy thickens, about 3-5 minutes.
Season with salt and pepper to taste.
Combine and Serve:
Add the blanched green beans to the skillet with the gravy. Stir to coat and heat through, about 2-3 minutes.
Transfer the green beans to a serving dish and pour any remaining gravy over them.
To Serve:
On Plates:
Place a serving of mashed potatoes on each plate.
Ladle gravy over the mashed potatoes.
Add a portion of green beans and drizzle with the green bean gravy.
Enjoy:
