Ingredients
- 4 slices of bread (your choice, but sturdy bread like sourdough works well)
- 4 tablespoons softened butter
- 4 ounces cream cheese, softened
- 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 1/2 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- 2-3 jalapeños, seeded and finely chopped (adjust to taste)
- 4 slices of bacon, cooked and crumbled (optional)
- 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/4 teaspoon onion powder
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Prepare the Jalapeño Mixture:
- In a medium bowl, mix together the softened cream cheese, shredded cheddar cheese, shredded mozzarella cheese, chopped jalapeños, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. If using, mix in the crumbled bacon.
- Assemble the Sandwiches:
- Spread butter on one side of each slice of bread.
- On the unbuttered side of two slices, spread a generous amount of the jalapeño mixture.
- Cook the Sandwiches:
- Preheat a skillet or griddle over medium heat.
- Place one slice of bread, buttered side down, on the skillet. Top with the other slice, buttered side up.
- Cook until the bread is golden brown and the cheese mixture is melted, about 3-4 minutes per side. If the bread is browning too quickly, lower the heat to ensure the cheese has time to melt.
- Serve:
- Remove the sandwiches from the skillet and let them cool for a minute before cutting in half and serving.
Tips
- Adjust the number of jalapeños based on your heat preference. For a milder flavor, remove more seeds and ribs from the jalapeños.
- You can add other cheeses like pepper jack or gouda for a different flavor profile.
- For extra crunch, add a few crushed tortilla chips inside the sandwich before grilling.
