The Wendy’s Frosty represents a significant memory from my childhood and I still love them. When I was growing up, every week after choir practice we went through the Wendy’s drive=thru and everyone got a Frosty and fries. It was something I looked forward to and was incentive to make it to choir practice!

There are interesting facts about the Wendy’s Frosty that I stumbled across. One key thing is the distinctive consistency – the thickness and slightly icy texture comes from serving it between 19° F and 21° F. The thickness was intentional so a spoon was necessary, and a straw would not cut it – that might be where dunking the fries comes in.

A spoon or fries definitely help avoid brain-freeze! Another interesting fact is that the chocolate Frosty is actually a mixture of chocolate and vanilla which is why it is a light chocolate color and has a hint of malted flavor.

While I love chocolate milkshakes, there is something about a Frosty that sets it apart and makes for craving a Frosty specifically, something that happens. At those times, a regular chocolate milkshake just won’t satisfy the craving for me.

Ingredients

5 cups chocolate milk, frozen in ice cube trays – See Notes

1/2-1 cup heavy cream – more if needed

1/4 cup. sweetened condensed milk – to taste

1 tsp. vanilla extract

Directions

Fill ice trays with chocolate milk Freeze overnight or until the milk is completely frozen.

In a blender, place about 1/2 the chocolate milk ice cubes, the cream, sweetened condensed milk, and vanilla. Blend until smooth and creamy – add more cream if needed to thin the mixture or additional ice cubes to make it thicker. Scrape down the sides as needed.

Spoon into cups and enjoy! You will need either a spoon or fries – it’s your choice!

Notes

• Making homemade chocolate milk makes these extra delicious.
Homemade Chocolate Milk: in a blender combine 5 cups milk, 1/4 cup cocoa powder, 3-4 Tbsp. powdered sugar, 1 Tbsp.      vanilla extract, and a pinch of salt. Blend until combined. Chocolate milk will keep 1 week in the fridge.

• Another idea for the chocolate milk is to add some Chocolate Malt mix to your chocolate milk. I love what the hint of malt adds to the Frosty.

• If you want to create your own coffee/chocolate Frosty, make some ice cubes out of strong coffee or espresso and throw a few in to the blender.

• You can keep the leftover chocolate milk ice cubes in a freezer bag for the next time you are craving a Frosty.

• If you have any Frosty leftover, it can be stored in the freezer. It will freeze solid but leaving at room temperature for 20-30 minutes will make it soft again.
