Georgia is known for its peaches, and peach cobbler is one of the state’s most recognized recipes. Making peach cobbler from scratch is the greatest way to enjoy the meal, and luckily, it’s really simple to prepare and in no time, you’re ready to enjoy this delicious goodness.

You don’t need to order peaches from Georgia to prepare this dish. All you have to do is pick up some fresh peaches from your local grocery store or farmer’s market, and a wonderful dessert will emerge from the oven in under an hour.

If fresh peaches aren’t available, get a bag of frozen peach slices; however, if fresh peaches are available, go for them.

Peaches are already sweet, but adding the little extra ingredients of this recipe takes your peaches from sweet to delicious.

Yield: 8 servings
Prep time: 15 minutes
Cook time: 50 minutes
Total Time: 1 Hour 5 Minutes

Ingredients

½ Cup Butter unsalted and melted
1 cup Flour
1 cup Granulated sugar
1 Tbsp. Baking powder
1 Cup Milk
2 tsp. Vanilla extract
3 Cans sliced peaches rinsed and drained well
1 cup Brown sugar
Squeeze of fresh lemon juice

How to prepare

Step 1:Preheat the oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit. In a 9×13 baking dish, melt the butter and pour it in the center. Spread the butter evenly rather than smearing it.

Step 2:Combine the flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, milk, and vanilla extract in a mixing dish and whisk until combined. Then fill the baking dish halfway with batter and place the butter in the center. It should not be stirred or spread.

Step 3:In a medium-sized skillet on the stove, combine the peaches, brown sugar, and lemon juice. Cook, stirring constantly, until the sugar has completely dissolved. Then fill the baking dish halfway with peach mixture. To blend the ingredients once more, do not stir.

Step 4:Allow to bake for 45 minutes, or until golden brown and well done. Serve and enjoy!

Tips:

If using fresh peaches, peel them by plunging into a pan of boiling water for about 30 seconds. Then, remove with a slotted spoon and put in a bowl of iced water. The skin should then come off easily.
