Ingredients
โ 1 1/2 pounds beef chuck roast
โ 1 packet (1 oz) onion soup mix
โ 1 cup beef broth
โ 1 cup water
โ 1/4 cup soy sauce
โ 2 cloves garlic, minced
โ 1 teaspoon dried thyme
โ 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
โ 6-8 French rolls or hoagie buns
โ Optional: sliced provolone or Swiss cheese
โ Optional: sautรฉed onions and peppers
Preparation
1. Prepare the Beef: Place the beef chuck roast in a slow cooker. Sprinkle the onion soup mix over the top.
2. Add Liquid Ingredients: In a bowl, mix together the beef broth, water, soy sauce, minced garlic, dried thyme, and black pepper. Pour this mixture over the beef in the slow cooker.
3. Cook: Cover and cook on low for 8-10 hours, or on high for 4-6 hours, until the beef is tender and shreds easily.
4. Shred Beef: Remove the beef from the slow cooker and shred it using two forks. Return the shredded beef to the slow cooker and stir to combine with the juices.
5. Prepare Rolls: Slice the French rolls or hoagie buns and optionally toast them.
6. Assemble Sandwiches: Spoon the shredded beef onto the rolls. Top with sliced cheese, sautรฉed onions, and peppers if desired.
