Amazing pepper steak recipe prepared in a crockpot. This meal is packed with lots of flavours and is also perfectly healthy!.
I’m not sure if I subconsciously choose my friends based on their willingness to share bites of whatever they ordered for dinner with me, but THANK GOD a good girlfriend let me try her Chinese pepper steak when we went out to Asian last week. This Crock Pot Pepper Steak might not have existed if it hadn’t been for her generosity, and our lives would be poorer as a result.
Pepper steak is a traditional Chinese American dish named after its two main ingredients: peppers (specifically bell peppers) and steak strips (often sirloin, flank, or round). It’s in a thick, almost gravy-like sauce made with ginger and soy sauce, and it coats each morsel with its rich, savoury flavour. There will be no dry rice grains here!
Pepper steak is typically served as a quick stir-fry dish, but I wanted to see if I could make it in the slow cooker.
Using the slow cooker to make pepper steak gives you the immediate satisfaction of ordering takeout while also providing the nutritional and cost-saving benefits of cooking healthy food at home.
This incredibly simple meal is super delicious and I must say that I am hooked on it. You can try the several variations of this recipe for a feel of different flavours. You can serve pepper steak with rice, cauliflower rice, or just have some vegetables on the side.
