Ingredients
1 pound ground beef use a lean cut like 90/10
⅓ cup water
5 ounces tomato sauce
½ cup ketchup
1 Tablespoon yellow mustard
1 Tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
2 teaspoons chili powder
½ teaspoon salt
½ teaspoon black pepper
½ teaspoon sugar
½ teaspoon onion powder or minced onion
How to prepare
Step 1:
Combine the ground beef and water in a medium skillet over medium heat, and break up the ground beef constantly while it is cooking, so as to have a fine recipe. Then drain off any remaining water or grease.
Step 2:
Add the beef to your slow cooker, and add all the remaining ingredients and stir together.
Step 3:
Allow to cook on low for 2 to 2½ hours.
Step 4:
Serve on hot dogs, french fries, or burgers. Enjoy!
Tips and variations
For better taste and to reduce grease to a minimum, use low-fat ground beef.
Serve with shredded cheese, minced onion, jalapenos, or mustard as a topping.
If you prefer to cook it on the stovetop, follow the same procedures but cook it in a skillet over medium heat, turning periodically, for 20-30 minutes.
Refrigerate leftovers in an airtight jar for up to 4 days. Thin the chili with water or extra ketchup if it becomes too thick.
