Cherry Pie Bars Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup butter, softened
  • 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 4 large eggs
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 (21 oz) can cherry pie filling
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 tablespoons milk

Instructions:

  1. Preheat Oven:
    • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking pan.
  2. Make the Dough:
    • In a large bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in the eggs, one at a time, then add the vanilla extract.
    • Gradually add the flour and salt, mixing until just combined.
  3. Layer the Dough and Filling:
    • Spread 2/3 of the dough into the prepared baking pan. Spread the cherry pie filling over the dough. Drop the remaining dough by spoonfuls over the filling.
  4. Bake:
    • Bake for 35-40 minutes, or until the top is golden brown. Let cool completely in the pan.
  5. Make the Glaze:
    • In a small bowl, whisk together the powdered sugar, vanilla extract, and milk until smooth.
  6. Glaze the Bars:
    • Drizzle the glaze over the cooled bars. Let the glaze set before cutting into squares.
