Bourbon Chicken :
Ingredients
โ 2 pounds boneless, skinless chicken thighs or breasts, cut into bite-sized pieces
โ 1/2 cup bourbon
โ 1/2 cup soy sauce
โ 1/4 cup brown sugar
โ 1/4 cup ketchup
โ 2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar
โ 2 cloves garlic, minced
โ 1 tablespoon grated fresh ginger
โ 1/2 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes (optional)
โ 1 tablespoon cornstarch mixed with 2 tablespoons water (for thickening)
โ 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
โ 2 green onions, sliced (for garnish)
Preparation
1. Prepare the Sauce: In a bowl, whisk together the bourbon, soy sauce, brown sugar, ketchup, apple cider vinegar, minced garlic, grated ginger, and crushed red pepper flakes (if using).
2. Sear the Chicken: Heat the vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the chicken pieces and cook until browned on all sides, about 5-7 minutes. Remove the chicken from the skillet and set aside.
3. Cook the Sauce: In the same skillet, pour in the sauce mixture. Bring to a simmer, scraping up any browned bits from the bottom of the skillet.
4. Combine Chicken and Sauce: Return the chicken to the skillet. Simmer for about 10-15 minutes, or until the chicken is cooked through and the sauce has thickened. If the sauce needs thickening, stir in the cornstarch mixture and cook for an additional 2-3 minutes until thickened.
5. Serve: Garnish with sliced green onions. Serve the Bourbon Chicken over rice or noodles. Enjoy your flavorful and delicious meal!
Perfect for a tasty and satisfying dinner!
