Spaghetti is a fun dish, but did you know that you can bake this? That’s right, you can bake this in a nice dish, and make it something that you will adore. Here is our fun baked spaghetti dish.
INGREDIENTS
1 lb. ground beef
1/2 c. basil, chopped
1 (28-oz.) can crushed tomatoes
1 c. shredded mozzarella
kosher salt
1 tsp. Italian seasoning
1 medium yellow onion, finely chopped
Cooking spray
2 tbsp. extra-virgin olive oil
2 cloves garlic, minced
16 oz. spaghetti
Freshly ground black pepper
1/4 c. freshly grated Parmesan
Chopped fresh parsley, for garnish
Steps
Preheat your oven to 350 degrees. Take a baking dish and then grease this with some cooking spray., put the spaghetti in there and then cook this al dente, drain this, and then put it to the side.
In a big skillet with some medium heat, put the oil in there and heat it. Cook the onions for about5 5 minutes until they become translucent and soft. Add in the garlic and cook it for a minute until it starts to smell. Season your ground beef with some salt and pepper, along with the Italian seasoning, and then cook this until the mixture doesn’t have a pink color, usually around 8 minutes or so. drain this fat into a bowl that has paper towels lined into this, put it in the pan.
Add in the basil and the crushed tomatoes, seasoning this until the mixture is slightly reduced, usually about 10 minutes. Season this with more pepper and salt for taste.
Add the spaghetti to this, toss this, and then put it in a dish to bake, and top it with more parmesan and mozzarella, then bake all of this until the cheese is melted, and the pasta is warmed, usually about 20 minutes or so.
Top this with some parsley to garnish and then serve it!
Tips
Can I freeze this?
No. due to the fact that it’s mostly made with pasta, it will get crunch if you put it in the freezer. You can leave it in the fridge as leftovers for a couple days but do keep in mind the texture of the noodles may change a bit, so it might be best to let it heat up in the oven rather than the microwave before you attempt to eat this.
Can I use non-meat sauce for this?
You sure can! While meat sauce really adds to this and gives it that meaty pasta texture, if marinara sauce is more your thing or you’re a vegetarian, you can definitely enjoy this, and it’s something that still will offer a great meal especially if you like something that’s hearty and a great dinner meal.
What’s good to pair with this?
The best things to pair with this are other great, hearty foods.
Garlic bread is never a bad thing. You can also make a salad as a side item. There are also fun vegetable dishes you can make with this such as smashed broccoli or creamed spinach, which go well as side items. If that works for you, then by all means.
