Ingredients:

  • For 4 people
  • Preparation Time: 15 minutes – Cooking Time: 10 minutes
  • 120 grams of butter
  • 450 grams of flour
  • 4 pinches of sugar
  • 2 sachets of vanilla sugar
  • 2 pinches of salt
  • 50 cl of water
  • 4 eggs
  • Frying oil
  • Sugar for dusting

Preparation:

  1. Start by boiling 50cl of water in a small saucepan with 120 grams of butter cut into small pieces. Add salt and sugar.
  2. Once the mixture has melted well, add the flour all at once.
  3. Mix the preparation well and remove it from the heat. Then pour it into a container.
  4. Add the first egg. Mix so that the egg can be well incorporated.
  5. Add the second egg, then mix, and so on. The dough should be sticky. If not, feel free to add a little water.
  6. Once all the eggs are incorporated, let the dough rest for 1 hour.
  7. Meanwhile, preheat your deep fryer to 180°C. You can also cook your homemade churros in a large pot of frying oil.
  8. Pour the dough into the pastry bag with a star-shaped tip. Shape the churros into long strips of about 10 to 15cm and let them fall directly into the hot oil.
  9. Fry them for 3 minutes, until they are golden brown.
  10. Then remove them with a slotted spoon and drain the churros on paper towels to remove excess oil.
  11. Finally, sprinkle with sugar and serve warm. You can also dip them in caramel or chocolate sauce for extra indulgence (I recommend hot fudge).
