This recipe does contain nuts, so if you’re making it for someone who is allergic to nuts, you can of course, get rid of that and substitute it for a couple of other ingredients, including coconut or the chocolate chips.
if you do make this, you can serve this immediately, and also enjoy a tasty cake that you won’t be able to get enough of. With a bonanza of ingredients, it’s the perfect dessert treat for those who love this sort of thing.
Ingredients:
1 box German Chocolate Cake Mix (do not prepare as directed on box, prepare as directed below)
1/3 cup oil
3 eggs
1 and 1/3 cup water
2/3 cup shredded coconut
2/3 cup chocolate chips
1/2 cup chopped pecans
1/2 cup butter
8 oz cream cheese
1 pound powdered sugar (3 and 3/4 cups)
Steps
Preheat your oven to 350
Grease a baking pan
After this, put the chocolate chips, the coconut, and the pecans over the top of the bottom area of your pan.
Take the German chocolate cake mix, making sure that you don’t make it the way that it says on the box, but instead mix the mix itself with the eggs, the oil, and some water.
Once everything is fully combined to create a batter, you want to put this on top of the pecan and the chocolate chip layer.
Then, grab a saucepan, and then melt the cream cheese and the butter that’s there.
Remove it off the heat, and then take the powdered sugar. Beat a pound of that in until it’s fully combined and smooth with the cream cheese and the butter mixture.
Take this mixture and put it over the chocolate cake batter in the pan, and then, you want to take a knife, and combine this directly into your cake mix using that knife.
Put it in the oven, and then bake it for around 35-45 minutes or so. it is considered done when you pull it out, and if you shake it, the cake doesn’t wobble.
With this one, you can’t use the toothpick test since the cake will be a bit more gooey than regular cake, as you’re not baking it the same way as others. Once you’re done, you can take this out, give it the shake test, and then, let it sit for a few minutes before you cut it into slices to serve.
Tips
Can I save this for Later?
You can. The beauty of this cake is that it’s pretty simple to leave it in the fridge, and there is a lot of benefits to be had with this.
If you’re curious about it, you can try it, and if you do want to heat it up, you can throw it in the microwave for a minute or so, and then serve it. But this does work well if you decide not to do that.
