Orange chicken is a tasty Asian chicken dish, and you can never get enough of it! But, if you’re pressed for time and don’t want to sit there hovering over a stove to make sure that you get it done, you’re not alone.

The beauty of a crock pot is that you can sit and leave the dish, come back to it, and from there, have something utterly amazing for you to work with.  Orange chicken does work in the crock pot, and some even say that it’s better than if you have it over the stove, since you’re able to keep it there, working nicely for a long period of time.

Ingredients:

2 large carrots, peeled and sliced about 1/2-inch thick

2 large red or green bell peppers, cut into 1/2-inch chunks

3 cloves garlic, finely minced

4 boneless skinless chicken breasts

2 tsp. ground ginger

1 tsp. salt

1/2 tsp. pepper

8 ounces orange juice concentrate

2 cups Mandarin orange segments or fresh orange segments

2 Green onions, chopped

hot cooked rice

Steps

The first step, is to make sure every vegetable is prepared.

Take the veggies, the chicken, the spices, and the orange juice which is frozen, and place all of this in the crock pot. Put it all nicely in there, stirring to combine this.

Turn on the crock pot, and then cook this on low for about 4-6 hours or until everything gets nice and tender.

Prepare some rice about 20 minutes before the chicken is done being made.

When the chicken is finished, give it one last stir, and then put this over the cooked rice on each platter or dish.

Take the green onions and the orange segments, and then put this on top of there.

You can always put the chicken in a gravy boat to help it maintain flavor if you want to

Tips

Why should I cook this in the crock pot?

Crock pot is the better way to cook certain items. It’s easier to prepare, you don’t have to monitor it, and it creates very soft, tender chicken.

While that might not be the way everyone likes orange chicken, you’ll definitely benefit from this, and it’s something a lot of people like from this as well.

Can I let the chicken cook for longer?

You can. It doesn’t affect the overall taste of it, it just makes it a lot more tender, especially when compared to the chicken when it’s not cooked like this.

Alternatively, you can put tis on high to cook it faster, but do note that it doesn’t make it as soft and tender compared to if you cook this in a regular crock pot.

What else can I add to the orange chicken?

You can add practically any and all spices that you desire to this.

If you like a really vivid orange flavor to this, you’ll definitely be happy with this, and you definitely will want to enjoy this. It definitely will give it a more pungent flavor, but for some who enjoy the taste or orange chicken, it’s a great way to build a better, more rewarding flavor that you will definitely love, and also a great flavor that adds to the dish to make it taste even better than before.
