BBQ wings are something that’s really good, especially if you’re looking to have a nice, tangy sauce with this.  This recipe will give you some great homemade wing sauce options too, that go perfectly with the chicken.

Ingredients

For 20 wings
1 cup of flour (125 g)
1 teaspoon chilli powder
1 teaspoon kosher salt
1 teaspoon black pepper, freshly ground
1 teaspoon of paprika
1 teaspoon garlic powder
20 chicken wings or drumsticks
1 cup BBQ sauce (290g)
½ cup of honey (170 g)
Preperation
* Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C).

Steps

Get a bowl and put the chili powder, pepper, salt, flour, garlic powder, and paprika in the bowl, combining all of this till the spices mix. Coat all of the wings in the flour mixtures, and make sure that you shake off any excess that’s there.

Put the wings that are covered in flour onto a sheet to bake that is lined with some parchment paper, making sure that they don’t overlap but instead are just in one layer.

Bake these for about 45 minutes turning them the other way at the halfway point, until the skin becomes crispy and they’re a golden brown color.

Next turn up the oven from 425 to 500 degrees, and then get another bowl, put the honey and the BBQ sauce in these, and once the wings are done and cooked, smother them in this so that they’re coated

Put them back onto the same baking sheet, and make sure they’re on just a single layer

Bake these for up to 10 minutes, until the sauce caramelizes and then bubbles. Take these out, put them on a cooling rack, and then serve these immediately!

Tips

Can I use a special BBQ sauce for this?

You can use whatever BBQ sauce you want if you’re curious about what something might taste like. Just also be mindful of any interactions with the spices, and make sure it goes well with honey, because this is a honey BBQ sauce mixture, so make sure that you keep that in mind when choosing the proper spices for this.

Why do I coat them in flour beforehand?

This is because it helps get the spices to sink directly into the chickens, making sure that they taste nice and flavorful. It also helps with making sure the skin is baked and crispy, which is what you’re going for with this first step.

Can I add other spices to this?

You sure can! If you want to add some heat to this, cayenne is never a bad option. If you want to use specific types of spices and flavorings, then go for it, since there are a lot of great ways to make these unique and different.

You can get creative with tis, especially if you’re not sure whether a spice will work. Another cool, and possibly unique thing that you can do with this, is to choose species, put them on here, and then, once you finish with the coating of them in the sauce, for an extra spice kick, put the spices on top of the chickens, and let these bake into the BBQ sauce. It’s a unique dish suggestion, and something that some people who love wings may want to try, especially if they want something different.
