Ritz crackers is a soft simple snack, made from flour, butter, baking powder and other ingredients to give it a soft and melting-in-the-mouth taste.

Ritz cracker is one of my favorite snacks, the softness is one of those things I love about this recipe. The first time I tried Ritz crackers at home, I was shocked and surprised at what it turned out to be. It tastes so perfect and even more than the store-bought Ritz crackers and since then I haven’t stopped making it. It gave me the circular cracker with ridge edges and a fine crunchy and easy to bite taste.  I added a pinch of salt the first time I tried, and it tastes nicer. The simplicity of the recipe has won my heart and my family loves it.

Ingredients

2 cups all-purpose flour

3 teaspoons baking powder

1 tablespoon sugar

1 teaspoon salt divided

6 tablespoons unsalted butter cold

2 tablespoons vegetable oil

⅔ cup water

3 tablespoons unsalted butter melted

How to prepare

Step 1:

Preheat the oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit. Then put the flour, baking powder, sugar, and ½ tsp of the salt in the food processor and beat to combine.

Step 2:

Add cold butter a few small strokes at a time, then beat together to combine. Also add vegetable oil, beat together. Then add water little by little and also beat to combine all together. At this time, the dough should start to form a ball.

Step 3:

Roll the formed dough out very thin. If you are so concerned about making them in the same thick sizes then you can use a pasta maker to make the dough all one thickness.

Step 4:

Cut the dough out with a cookie cutter and make them Ritz-shaped or any shape that you love. You can pattern the cookie butter anyhow you want or poke holes in the dough in the Ritz pattern.

Step 5:

Allow the crackers to bake on a parchment or Silpat-lined baking sheet for about 10 minutes or until it begins to turn slightly brown.

Step 6:

While baking the crackers, melt the remaining butter and mix in the remaining salt. Add salt to the quantity that you want your crackers to taste. Then, remove the crackers from the oven, and brush them with the salty butter.

Step 7:

Allow to cool and serve.

Tips and variations

You can store your ritz crackers in an airtight container at room temperature. You can keep the moist level regulated by adding a piece of toasted bread to the crackers container.

You should note that the holes in the ritz crackers made before baking are not decoratives, they are to help the crackers bake all through in the oven.
