Ingredients

1 pound ham hock
36 ounces green beans, fresh or frozen, in bite-size pieces
3 cups water
4 large potatoes, yellow or red, skin on, cut in bite-size chunks
1 Tbsp. thyme, dry
1 tsp. garlic powder
1 tsp. onion powder
½ tsp. black pepper
1 tsp. salt, more to taste
¼ tsp. ground cloves
½ tsp. ground cinnamon
Oil, just a drizzle, about 1-2 Tablespoons

Instructions

Step 1:In the bottom of the crockpot, place the ham hock (or ham chunks), then add the green beans, water, and potato chunks. The thyme, garlic powder, onion powder, black pepper, salt, cloves, and cinnamon will be added next. After fully mixing, drizzle with a small amount of oil (1-2 teaspoons) before covering.

Step 2:Allow to cook for about 4 hours on high or 6-7 hours on low. After the green beans and potatoes are done, remove the ham hock and set it aside to cool somewhat before chopping it.

Step 3:While cooling and chopping up the ham chunks, put the crockpot on the warm setting. Serve with the ham chunks.

Tips:

•Cooking for 4 hours on high or 6-7 hours on low dependent on whether you will be at home or not, as well as how quickly you need it completed.

•Do not overcook as overcooking will result in mushy green beans. However, you must cook the potatoes until it is done.

•If you cut the potatoes too large, they will take a long time to cook once the rest of the meal is ready. I prefer to keep it to 1 inch or less.
